The Hon. Clay G. Sweeting serves in the Cabinet of The Government of The Bahamas as Minister of Works & Family Island Affairs. At the age of 17, Sweeting purchased his first fishing vessel and started his journey into entrepreneurship. Since then, he has diversified his interests, becoming a Real Estate Agent and owner of multiple businesses.
Minister Sweeting served as the Chairman of the Spanish Wells Commonage Committee from 2008 to 2009 and is a member of the Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA).
In 2008, he ran for the Spanish Wells Local Government Elections where he was elected and became the youngest member to ever serve in Local Government at the time, sparking his interest in national politics.
Minister Sweeting has served as the Deputy Chairman of the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) where he was instrumental in assisting and developing entrepreneurs and agriculture in The Bahamas.
He has also served as a Senator, representing the Opposition in the Upper Chamber of Parliament and was recently elected as Member of Parliament for the Central and South Eleuthera Constituency.
As Minister, he has led the charge of digitalization for the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs.
Minister Sweeting was born on December 21, 1985 in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera.
He enjoys sports, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
He received his early education at Spanish Wells All Age School where he graduated as Valedictorian, followed by his pursuit of a Law degree at Teesside University, England.
Minister Sweeting is married to Delia Sweeting and they are the proud parents to Davin Sweeting.
